Camp048 - Nairobi National Park - A Park in the City´s Backyard!

Nairobi National Park, established in 1946, is the oldest and the only park in the world located within a capital city’s limits. Only a fence separates the park's wildlife from the metropolis Nairobi, which is Kenya’s Capital City. Most of the big five are found in the park, with the exception of elephants. An animal orphanage is also found at the main gate of the park.

In stark contrast to the civilization surrounding it and relatively small size, Nairobi National Park boasts a large and varied wildlife population, which is mostly migratory, ranging from herbivores, who gather in the park during the dry seasons.

A trip to the park is better experienced in combination with other attractions that are within easy reach. These attractions include, the National Museum of Kenya, the Karen Blixen Museum, the Bomas of Kenya, the Giraffe Center and the world famous Carnivore Restaurant where one can sample international standard delicacies. The park is particularly popular with visitors who want to get an idea what a Kenyan safari is all about and hopefully see some interesting animal interaction.
