Camp037 - Amboseli National Park - Safari at the footsteps of The Kilimanjaro!
At about 200 kilometres south of Nairobi, the Amboseli National Park spreads her 3,225 square kilometres at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro. It is home to the proud and bright, ochre-painted Maasai. The acacia woodlands and grasslands of the park attract an abundance of game, including buffalo, lion cheetah, spotted hyenas, zebras and wildebeest. Watching herds of elephants crossing the plains with Mt. Kilimanjaro in the backdrop leaves a lasting impression and Amboseli is the best place for a chance to spot a black rhino.
The park is one of Kenya's smaller game parks, but offers you the best opportunity of seeing the critically endangered black rhino, along with a spectacular range of wildlife. The combination of scenery, people and animals is what makes the Amboseli National Park so fascinating. The area's low and well-munched vegetation also ensures that animals are easy to spot.
The park offers excellent accommodation facilities. There are five lodges, two campsites inside the park. Mount Kilimanjaro forms the backdrop to this game sanctuary, quite a sight to see and marvel at. The nomadic, richly decorated Maasai Morans - deeply steeped in their traditional culture - entertain visitors with enchanting dances of ageless Africa.
